We must go into Europe for all our sakes, for the future is at hand. There's more to being a nation than being a state, than the boundaries round your land.
They'll tell you integration destroys the fabric of the nation, severing our links with the past. Well tell that to the Welsh, the Scottish and the Basque. There's more to who we are than to whom we pay our tax.
Yes, we fought a war. In fact we fought three or four on the same side as the Germans or the French. When our forefathers died lying face down in a trench did they think we'd allow this to happen again?
We can't turn back the clock to when the commonwealth was a trading block, and if that means we sign the Social Chapter, well, so what? Give us all a vote - who cares who's on the notes? I'll swap a minimum wage for the Magna Carta any day.

Political Thinking From The 1990s! This took ages to write - i had the chorus, and a whole slew of ideas, but couldn't actually shove them into verses. One night "yes we fought a war" dropped out of the sky, and the rest was pretty easy. When I wrote this song people on telly were talking about this sort of thing ALL THE TIME! That was a long long time ago though, these days nobody seems to even mention The Europe do they?
