Songs: A Christmas Cry
notes / gigs / releasesPublished by Wipe Out Music Publishing
Back in 2018, when we formally released Christmas Selection Box as an Official Album on The Streaming Services I thought "Right, that's that done - I feel I have now said all I have or will ever need to say about Christmas!"
This did not turn out to be the case.
HENCE this song slipped gently into my BRANE around (or maybe just after) Christmas 2024. It's based on something I always think about these days at Christmas, about how when I was a wee child Christmas was purely and simply a time of EXCITEMENT and FUN, but then as you get into being a grown-up a sadness creeps into it, as you look back on those Christmases and realise that more and more of the people who MADE them so much fun aren't around anymore. It's a sort of lovely sadness which usually hits me at some point during "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" during Christmas Carols, and so I thought I'd have a go at writing it as ANOTHER song.
It turned out pretty flipping great, or at least I think so - I have played it many times for my own personal delight, and I have shed a tear almost every time, which I think is a sign of QUALITY!
