The Book

Data and Doctor Doom: An Empirical Approach To Transmedia Characters is a book first published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2024. It's available as a hardback, eBook and, from 15 February 2025, a paperback from their website.

It's based on my PhD, Doctor Doom in The Marvel Age: an empirical approach to transmedia character coherence, which was awarded in 2023. The PhD thesis also included a section on periodising 'The Marvel Age' which has recently been published Open Access as Periodizing 'The Marvel Age' Using the Production of Culture Approach in the book Comics | Histories.
