Blog: Metaphor Realignment
< previous | next > |
Yes, I know, it's not very nice is it?
The second thing that occurred was right at the end of The Session, when I was about to do a Radio Ident (you know, "Hi! This is MJ Hibbett, and you're listening to Kooba Radio!"). SUDDENLY into my head popped a JINGLE, which i instantly played on my guitar. This was the last straw for the song bung which POPPED OUT there and then, and over the rest of the weekend I wrote not one but TWO brand new songs (both in the Song Blog)! Actually, I wrote bits of SEVERAL, and formulated a massive LIST of Songs To Come. Even whilst shaving this morning and thence on the way into work, a few thoughts re. BEARDS started to gather overhead.
And with this in mind I have decided to apply a Metereological Metaphorical Realignment. Where previously I would have said that the Radio Jingle had been the last stubborn "firm lump" that had to come out in order to allow the firm freshly made New Songs to flow out of the Song Chute (I am paraphrasing like made for delicacy's sake here), INSTEAD I would NOW like to say that it was the first few drops of light rain that falls a few minutes before the MIGHTY THUNDERSTORM begins. I am now standing in a DELUGE, with ripe dark clouds still forming overhead, and rather than searching for my brolly I'm dragging out BUCKETS to catch as much of it as I can.
So go and get your trunks - we're going swimming!
