This was great - Scottish Mick and Pat out of Prolapse somehow got Lissy's records to pay for them to record an acoustic version of "Autobahn" by Kraftwerk. Pat asked me to play bass, and over the course of several weeks i persuaded him that i should do the drum programming too.

We spent a happy day in Archway studios recording it. We started at about 11am, setting the drums and then me doing the bass. This took about 20 minutes, and i spent the rest of the day listening to "Autobahn." Again, and again, and again, while they did spoons, bagpipes, and God knows what else. Ruth from Po! came and played the accordion, and Jock from Super8 (as was) played his Weird Indian Keyboard Thing. After EIGHT HOURS we realised we still needed a b-side, so the three of us dashed in and knocked it off in half an hour, then me and Pat went to the pub for last orders, Mick recorded his vocals, and we came back and mixed it. It sounded brilliant.

About six months later it finally got released, and it got to number 18 in the indie charts!! It was a Melody Maker single of the week, got a special piece in the paper, was on the NME playlist, got played by Steve Lamaqc (who raved about it in Select), got put in a Flood remix, and, apparently, got to be an Obscure Classic! Wahey! The only problem was i never got mentioned anywhere - all the photoes were of Pat and Mick, and all the reviews said it was just them. Fair enough though,it was their record, they were the famous, but i was a bit hurt to see the record said the b-side was written by just them. sob. I was all upset, but never mind eh? I was at number 18 with a bullet!
